Dubai Police’s sports teams have secured 578 medals in various local, regional, and international championships over the last three sports seasons.
His Excellency Major General Abdul Quddoos Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Commandant for Excellence and Pioneering Affairs, has praised the efforts of the Sports Affairs Department in the General Department for Community Happiness for their support for Dubai Police’s sports teams which led to this impressive haul of trophies. He further appreciated the teams’ participation in all championships and their commitment to physical training, maintaining Dubai Police’s sporting excellence.
This commendation came during a meeting with the sports teams of Dubai Police, attended by Major General Ahmad Rafie, Assistant Commandant for Community Happiness and Logistic Support; Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department for Community Happiness; his deputy, Brigadier Dr. Ahmad Yousuf Al Mansouri; Brigadier Dr. Saleh Al Hamrani, Deputy Director of the General Department for Excellence and Pioneering; and Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Basit Ali, Director of the Sports Affairs Department, along with several officers.
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri extended his gratitude to the Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police and Dubai Police’s assistant commandant for supporting the sports teams contributing to their numerous achievements and championships in recent years.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Basit Ali presented an overview of the Sports Affairs Department’s achievements, managing 21 sports teams with 446 athletes. Among these teams, the cycling team stood out with 285 achievements in the past three years, including winning the President of the UAE Cup for Cycling and topping the overall ranking in the UAE League (team category) for the last two sports seasons.
Dubai Police also secured first place in the Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament and the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Award in the “Sports Excellence” category in its sixth edition. They also received the Sports Excellence Shield and the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Award for Women’s Sports 2023 for the “Best Creative Sports Initiative” category.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Basit also reviewed the results of the latest edition of the Commander’s Shield for Excellence Tournament, where the General Department for the Organisations Protective Security and Emergency topped the general departments’ category.
