The Viacom18 network has filed a case against 40 people, including Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and rapper Badsha, for allegedly promoting online gambling. After issuing a summons to Badshah for questioning in this regard, Badshah appeared in the cyber department of Maharashtra Police on Monday.
Viacom18 Network has filed a complaint against Sanjay Dutt and Badsha and 40 others. The company has filed the case for illegally promoting the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the betting app.
According to Viacom18, an online gambling company is illegally broadcasting IPL matches on their mobile app. 40 celebrities including Badsha, Sanjay Dutt are campaigning for the respective app. The Viacom 18 authority has also charged them with digital piracy.
Famous Bollywood faces like Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Kapil Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor have been seen as ambassadors of the company. ED has asked for their statements in advance for the purpose of investigation.
Earlier on October 4, the ED had summoned Ranbir Kapoor for questioning in the Mahadev online betting case. Apart from him, 15-20 stars’ names were in the scanner of ED. At that time they will record Ranbir Kapoor’s statement as a witness.
