Foreign ministers from the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt have formally condemned Israel’s rejection of the roadmap designed to implement US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan for ending the Gaza conflict. This roadmap, which has received endorsement through UN Security Council Resolution 2803, is viewed by the coalition as a critical framework for peace that Israel’s current opposition threatens to derail.
The ministers emphasized that Israel’s stance undermines international efforts to achieve lasting stability and places the burden of responsibility on the Israeli government for obstructing the path to peace in Gaza and the broader occupied Palestinian territories. They warned that any continued refusal, delay, or non-compliance with the plan could lead to a further deterioration of conditions on the ground and disrupt the ongoing efforts to end the war.
The proposed roadmap, which has already been accepted by various Palestinian factions, is the result of extensive mediation involving Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, the United States, the High Representative for Gaza, and the Board of Peace. The plan outlines a multi-step process, including the control of weaponry, the withdrawal of Israeli military forces, the deployment of an international stabilization force, and the transfer of administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to initiate reconstruction.
In their joint statement, the ministers urged the United States to maintain active involvement to ensure that Israel adheres to its commitments. They reiterated that the full and immediate implementation of the plan is essential to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, restoring security, and facilitating recovery. The coalition stressed that a sustainable peace must be rooted in the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood.
Rejecting any unilateral measures intended to block Palestinian sovereignty, the ministers reaffirmed their commitment to a two-state solution. They stated that lasting peace can only be realized through an independent and sovereign Palestinian state established on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions. Furthermore, the group highlighted the vital role of the Board of Peace in advancing the second phase of the plan, calling on the board and the US to take immediate action to prevent any party from obstructing the implementation process.
