Famous Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger has been detained in Germany. He was detained at the Munich airport in Germany for bringing an expensive watch without declaring it. However, he was released after being detained for about three hours.
Thomas Meister, the press officer of the customs department in Munich, said that after landing in Germany, Schwarzenegger will be prosecuted for the criminal offense of tax evasion. According to the official, he did not declare a product he was carrying. This product (for use in Europe) is imported from outside the European Union. whose tax process applies equally to all.
Meister also said that Schwarzenegger, the former governor of California, was detained for about three hours. After he was released, he left for his destination. Meanwhile, a source close to Schwarzenegger says that Arnold himself owns this watch from the Swiss luxury brand Ademakh Piguet. He is likely to auction it off for sale in Kitzbühel, Austria on Thursday (January 18).
The source elaborated on Schwarzenegger’s ordeal at the airport, saying the entire incident was the ultimate example of the incompetence of customs officials. They make a lot of ridiculous mistakes. ‘Arnold was not asked to fill in any declaration forms and answered every question from customs officials correctly.
Schwarzenegger later agreed to pay the appropriate tax for the watch. But the officials tried for an hour but could not collect the tax through the credit card machine. They then took Schwarzenegger to a bank, where the official asked him to withdraw local currency from an ATM and pay the tax.
But the bank closed by then. Also the maximum withdrawal limit of that ATM was not enough to pay the tax. Later, when Schwarzenegger returned to the airport, an officer from the new shift brought in a new credit card machine. If the machine works properly, the actor is released after paying the tax.
