The Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Tareq Ahmed, paid a courtesy call on His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Fujairah, on 21 January 2026. During the meeting, the Ambassador formally invited the Crown Prince to visit Bangladesh.
The Ambassador highlighted that nearly 1.2 million Bangladeshi expatriates residing in the United Arab Emirates play a vital role not only in Bangladesh’s economic development through remittances, but also contribute significantly to the socio-economic progress of the UAE. In this context, he expressed hope that the Crown Prince of Fujairah would extend support toward reopening visa opportunities for Bangladeshi nationals in the UAE.
Commending the remarkable development of Fujairah under the Crown Prince’s leadership, the Ambassador requested the establishment of direct connectivity between Fujairah Port and Chattogram Port to strengthen bilateral trade relations between Bangladesh and Fujairah. He also emphasized the importance of providing special scholarships for students studying at various universities in Fujairah. Additionally, the Ambassador requested the allocation of land or a permanent building for the Bangladesh Association in Fujairah.
The courtesy meeting was also attended by the Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai, Mr. Md. Rasheduzzaman; the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Ms. Shahnaz Ranu; and the Commercial Counsellor, Mr. Ashish Kumar.
Furthermore, on 22 January 2026, Ambassador Tareq Ahmed held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Ali Qasem, Director General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation (FNRC). During the meeting, both sides discussed various bilateral issues and exchanged views on strategies to enhance future trade and commercial cooperation.
