World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has urged world leaders to come together for an immediate end to the war, recalling the horrors and suffering of his childhood in Ethiopia.
He made this call citing the ongoing war between Israeli forces and Gaza’s ruling group Hamas. In a message on Monday (October 30), Tedros Adhanom said, “I humbly appeal to all parties, including world leaders, for a ceasefire and peace.”
This citizen of the African country Ethiopia was plagued as a child in the midst of the horrors of war. He said, “I have seen firsthand the horrors, horrors and horrors of war. Those nightmares still haunt me. Now I empathize deeply with everyone who is in the middle of ongoing wars and conflicts, I can clearly feel their pain, pain that reawakens my own nightmares.
He further said, “War only brings destruction, horror and destruction. Nothing else. In this critical critical moment, let us forget divisions and embrace peace. The highest manifestation of courage is to stand for peace. I call on world leaders to unite to bring the world back to the path of peace.”

Meanwhile, 124 health workers, including doctors, were killed in an Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip. Ashraf Al-Qudrasa, spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, said on Monday (October 30). He also said that since the fighting started on October 7, 25 ambulances have become immobile due to fuel shortage and 32 medical centers have also stopped service.
Fears of an Israeli attack on Al-Quds, Gaza’s second largest hospital, have intensified. Earlier, the Israeli army ordered the hospital to be evacuated. They ordered to evacuate the hospital in order to attack it.
