Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society and member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, announced the observation of the crescent moon and Venus in the skies over Sharjah on Sunday evening. Venus continues to shine brightly in the sky, having reached its greatest eastern elongation from the sun on Saturday, at approximately 46 degrees, which marks its greatest distance from the setting sun, he said.
The planet remains visible to the naked eye above the western horizon after sunset, appearing near the crescent moon to create an ideal scene for astronomical observation and photography. The crescent rose higher above the horizon yesterday, while Venus would gradually descend over the coming weeks, approaching the setting sun, he said.
