The current Prime Minister of India has given glimpses of forming a government for the third consecutive term with allies even if he did not get an absolute majority. Narendra Modi will be sworn in as Prime Minister for the third time on Saturday, June 8.
He went to the Rashtrapati Bhavan today (Wednesday) after the Lok Sabha election results were announced. There the President will meet Draupadi Murmu and leave the post of Prime Minister. After that, he will seek the President’s approval to form the next government.
The current Prime Minister of India has given glimpses of forming a government for the third consecutive term with allies even if he did not get an absolute majority.
He thanked the countrymen and NDA supporters for the victory at a rally at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi later on Tuesday (June 4) evening.
Modi said today’s victory is the victory of unshakable faith in the Constitution of India. I congratulate the people in this moment of victory. I thank everyone. I also thank all the colleagues of NDA.
Narendra Modi made a post on social media X (Twitter). There he writes, for the third time in a row, the people (of India) have faith in the NDA! This is a historic feat in the history of India.
He also wrote, we have been able to reassure the people. I will continue to do good work in the coming years as well as in the past 10 years to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
According to the Election Commission of India and media reports, the BJP-led NDA coalition won 286 seats. India Alliance won 202 seats. BJP alone failed to reach the magic figure of 272 to form the government. The party got 240 seats. Congress got 99. This means that the BJP will have to rely mainly on its two partners Nitish Kumar’s JD-U and Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh to form the government. The combined seats of these two parties are 28.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar’s close aide and JDU leader KC Tyagi told news agency ANI on Tuesday (June 4) that the party would remain in the NDA and rejected all speculations of moving to the Bharat bloc. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Chandrababu Naidu congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the NDA’s victory in Andhra Pradesh and said the TDP and the BJP will rebuild the state together.
If the government is formed after taking oath, Narendra Modi will become the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term, second only to Jawaharlal Nehru.
