Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that steps will be taken to resume trade relations with India.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar indicated this in a press conference after participating in the Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels, Belgium on Saturday.
At the press conference, Ishaq Dar hinted at a possible shift in diplomatic stance towards the neighboring country, highlighting the interest of Pakistan’s business community in resuming trade with India.
Islamabad severed ties with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government after it revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s ‘special’ constitutional status in 2019. However, the country’s foreign minister told the media in London on Saturday after completing his visit to the UK and Europe, “Pakistani businessmen want trade relations with India again.”
In response to a question from journalists, Ishaq Dar said, “We will seriously consider the issues of trade with India.”
He also said, ‘Trade between us is still going on. But through Dubai and Singapore. This results in additional customs, transshipment and transportation costs. We will look into these issues. All parties will sit together and review whether economic activities and trade between us can be enhanced.
At this time, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan also mentioned the implementation of a five-year road map to bring the country back on the path of economic progress and to reduce the economic hardship and inflation of the common people.
