The US announced the airlift after 115 people were killed in an Israeli attack on Palestinians gathered for a meal.
Three C-130 planes dropped 35,000 packets of food in a US airdrop of humanitarian aid to starving Gazans on Saturday (March 2). Aid packages have been cut to an area where a quarter of Gaza’s population is starving.
The airlift will continue and Israel will support the operation, the White House said.
On Sunday (3 March) there was confusion over the ceasefire talks in Egypt. Gaza’s health ministry said 11 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack on a tent in the Rafah area. Also, 50 people were wounded in an Israeli attack near a hospital in Rafah city.
Israel has not commented on the attack. However, they have admitted to killing 31 terrorists by attacking Khan Yunis, Middle Gaza and Rimal areas in Gaza.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has expressed hope that the ceasefire will be in place before Ramadan, which begins on March 10.
