The Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, celebrated the Bengali New Year 1432 and the Baishakhi festival with a vibrant and colorful event. The day-long festival took place on Saturday, April 19th, at Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Bangladesh Islamia School & College in Abu Dhabi.Expatriate Bangladeshis from various parts of the Emirates enthusiastically participated, turning the event into a joyous reunion. From the school auditorium to every corner of the field, there was an outpouring of exuberance from the expatriates, instantly transforming the place into a piece of Bangladesh.
Various attractive stalls were set up for the visitors at the event. Besides the Bangladesh Embassy’s “Embassy Corner,” the stalls of Bangladesh Samiti Abu Dhabi, Janata Bank, Bangladesh Biman Abu Dhabi, and Barisal Division Kalyan Parishad were particularly noteworthy. Additionally, stalls of various other organizations and institutions shone with their own distinctiveness. Each stall was adorned with the colors of the country’s culture and heritage. Guests at the festival were captivated by the array of delicious traditional pithas (cakes) and indigenous furniture. Throughout the day, local artists and school students presented lively dances and songs in an engaging cultural program. People started flocking to the fair from the morning, and as time went on, it transformed into a joyous sea of people.
His Excellency Ambassador Tareq Ahmed presided over and inaugurated this joyous fair by cutting the ribbon himself. Special guests at the event included officials from the Embassy and Consulate, diplomats from 12 friendly countries and their family members. Teachers, students, and a large number of general expatriate Bangladeshis also participated in the event. Many attended with their families.

The day-long joyful event concluded with a delightful prize distribution ceremony. At the event, His Excellency Ambassador Tareq Ahmed thanked and expressed his gratitude to everyone for their sincere cooperation and participation in making this beautiful celebration of the New Year a success. He said, “This festival will help preserve our culture and heritage abroad, as well as highlight its importance to the new generation.”
This joy of the New Year creates a new enthusiasm and bond of brotherhood in the land of expatriates, which will undoubtedly remain an indelible and joyful memory in everyone’s mind for a long time to come.
