A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.9 shook the Philippines again. The earthquake hit the country around 4 am on Monday. With this, the country of Southeast Asia was shaken by strong earthquakes for three consecutive days.
It is said that an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 struck Mindanao in the Philippines on Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey, USGS.
However, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said the latest earthquake had a magnitude of 6.8.
The USGS said the quake originated about 72 kilometers northeast of the municipality of Hinatuan on Mindanao Island. The depth was 30 kilometers (18 mi) from the surface.
The US Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami threat in the Southeast Asian country following the earthquake.
Earlier on Sunday, a strong earthquake shook the Philippines. According to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), the magnitude of the earthquake that struck on Sunday was 6.4.
According to GFZ, the earthquake originated at a depth of 10 km below the surface.
Earlier last Saturday at 10:37 PM local time, a strong earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale hit the southern island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The earthquake shook Mindanao and its surrounding areas.
After the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued in the coastal areas of the country. Residents were evacuated from the coastal areas of Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental. The country’s seismological agency Phivolcs later canceled the tsunami warning and allowed residents to return to their homes.
