28 Google employees have been fired for protesting the cancellation of a contract with the Israeli government.
The pro-Palestinian activists took a stand in front of the tech company’s headquarters in New York on Tuesday.
They demanded cancellation of the controversial contract named ‘Project Nimbus’. Later on Tuesday evening, police detained several employees at the Google company offices in New York City and Sunnyvale.
Earlier, Google authorities handed over one of their employees to the police at Google’s California office. He took a peaceful stand against the agreement with Israel inside the office.
Project Nimbus is the Israeli government’s controversial $1.2 billion deal with Google and Amazon, through which the two companies will provide advanced technology including cloud services to the Israeli military and various government departments.
