The court found evidence of rape of a teenage girl against Nepal’s former captain and leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhan. As a result, this 23-year-old star cricketer is going to be sentenced to prison.
Kathmandu District Court will announce the final verdict of this case soon. Justice Shishir said the victim was not a minor at the time of the rape.
Earlier, on August 21, 2022, Lamichhan was accused of raping a girl multiple times in a hotel in Kathmandu. He was arrested when an arrest warrant was issued on September 7. This former Nepal captain served four months in prison.
Later Lamichane was given conditional bail in exchange for 15 thousand 300 dollars.
Lamichane was banned from the Nepal Cricket Board after his arrest. However, after getting bail, Lamichane again entered the field for Nepal. However, his cricketing career is in jeopardy as the allegations are finally proved.
It should be noted that Lamichane played 51 ODIs and 52 T20Is after his debut in 2018. His total number of wickets in international cricket is 210. He was a regular face in almost every major franchise tournament in the world before his indictment. He was regularly seen participating in IPL, BPL, Big Bash, PSL and CPL.
