Israeli authorities have admitted that two civilians have been killed in Gaza for every Hamas member.
The Ministry of Health, run by Hamas in Gaza, says that after the attack by Hamas on October 7, Israel’s military operations have killed about 15,900 people, most of whom are women and children.
According to the report, when asked if the news that 5,000 members of Hamas were killed is correct, a senior official told reporters in a briefing, “The number is more or less correct.”
A senior Israeli military officer said, this ratio is not too bad. Now we are at a ratio of two to one. He said he hopes this ratio will come down.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said it was not unusual for Gaza to kill two civilians for every Hamas attack. Hassam is accused of mixing with civilians and using them as human shields, he said.
The growing death toll and humanitarian crisis in the Israeli offensive in Gaza has sparked outrage in most countries around the world.
Israel has resumed attacks despite a seven-day Qatar-brokered ceasefire in the nearly two-month-old conflict.
US State Department official Barbara Leaf told Congress last month that it was difficult to determine the actual number of casualties during the conflict. But he believes the number of casualties could be much higher.
Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Barbara added, ‘Only when the guns are silenced will we know the true number of casualties.’
