On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, it has been announced to reduce the prices of about 10,000 products in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
A retailer named Sharjah Cooperative Society recently announced this price discount.
Most of these items that have been reduced in price are essential food products. Besides, prices of products like cooking oil and flour will also be reduced by up to 75 percent.
Sharjah Cooperative Society announced last Wednesday. They have allocated 35 million dirhams for the holy month of Ramadan 2024 and reduced the prices of about 10,000 items. Almost 80 per cent of these discounted items are essential food products and will be available at their 67 branches across the emirate. Prices of staple food items like cooking oil, flour and rice will drop by up to 75 percent.
Meanwhile, this product discount has started from last February 22. Weekly offers will also offer additional discounts on items beyond those initial 10,000 products.
Apart from this, customers who spend 300 dirhams or more under this campaign also have a chance to win big prizes. Including two Suzuki Dzire cars, 30 furniture gift cards every week. 32 shopping gift cards worth 5 thousand dirhams and 1 thousand dirhams.
Majid Al Junaid, CEO of Sharjah Cooperative Society, said that despite the global supply chain challenges, Sharjah Cooperative Society has ensured adequate supply of all the products required by all its branches. He said that the society has assured the public of providing products at affordable prices despite the concerns of customers regarding the possible price hike during the holy month of Ramadan.
The UAE-based retailer is also looking at introducing opportunities such as drive-thru shopping to ease congestion and provide more convenience to customers.
