Ambassador of Bangladesh to Spain, H.E. Masudur Rahman, paid a courtesy call today on H.E. Diego Martínez Belío, Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid.
The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Spain.
Secretary Martínez Belío was joined by Mr. Emilio Contreras Benítez, Deputy Director General for Southern Asia at the Spanish Foreign Ministry, highlighting the importance Spain attaches to its relations with the South Asian region.
During their discussion, Ambassador Rahman and Secretary Belío exchanged views on a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the existing friendly ties and reiterated their commitment to further deepening cooperation between the two countries.
They emphasized the importance of enhancing political dialogue, economic engagement, cultural exchange, and people-to-people contact.
Ambassador Rahman briefed the Spanish side on Bangladesh’s socio-economic progress, investment potential, and the government’s commitment to sustainable development.
He also highlighted the significant contributions of the Bangladeshi diaspora in Spain, particularly in promoting cultural ties and economic activity.
Secretary Belío, in turn, acknowledged Bangladesh’s impressive economic growth and reaffirmed Spain’s interest in exploring new avenues of collaboration, particularly in trade, renewable energy, education, migration governance, and multilateral diplomacy.
