China has always regarded Pakistan as a ‘strategic partner under all circumstances’ and a ‘highly credible, firm and reliable friend’. Therefore, China-Pakistan relations will always be a priority.
After meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in the Chinese capital Beijing, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China will support Pakistan in safeguarding ‘national sovereignty and territorial integrity’.
It is said that after the recent border tensions between Pakistan and India, China has said that it firmly stands by Pakistan in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity. China gave this message at a meeting of foreign ministers of the two countries in Beijing on Tuesday.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that despite the tensions between Pakistan and India, they welcome dialogue and peaceful resolution of differences. Wang made these remarks during a meeting with visiting Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
China’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “Pakistan is a ‘highly credible, firm and reliable friend’ of China and the two countries will further deepen ‘strategic cooperation under all circumstances’.”
Meanwhile, Ishaq Dar thanked China for its support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during the meeting.
The Pakistan Foreign Ministry said that the two countries had in-depth discussions on the current situation in South Asia, the future direction of China-Pakistan relations and the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
The statement said, “The leadership of the two countries pledged to continue mutual cooperation to maintain regional peace, development and stability.”
Earlier, Ishaq Dar also met with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The two leaders agreed to further strengthen the CPC’s relations with Pakistani political parties.
Liu said, “China has always regarded Pakistan as an ‘all-round strategic partner’ and a ‘highly credible, firm and reliable friend.’ Therefore, China-Pakistan relations will always be a priority.”
Ishaq Dar recently arrived in Beijing on a three-day official visit at the invitation of the Chinese Foreign Minister. The visit comes at a time when India and Pakistan have been locked in bloody clashes over the Pahalgam attack for days and the situation remains tense despite a ceasefire.
