US President Donald Trump has put pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to meet with President Vladimir Putin.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he is ready to meet with President Vladimir Putin in Turkey next Thursday (May 15) to end the long war with Russia.
It was noted that Volodymyr Zelensky said, “There is no point in prolonging the killing. I will wait for Putin in Turkey on Thursday.”
He said, “We expect a complete and permanent ceasefire from tomorrow. Which will create the necessary basis for diplomacy.”
Earlier, US President Donald Trump put pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to meet with President Vladimir Putin. He put pressure on Zelensky to meet Putin in a post on the social media site Truth Social on Thursday.
In the post, Trump said, “Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine. Instead, he expressed his willingness to negotiate an end to the bloodshed in a direct meeting in Turkey on Thursday. Ukraine should immediately agree to the Russian President’s proposal.”
Earlier, Ukrainian President Zelensky demanded a 30-day ceasefire from Russia on Monday before any talks with Putin could begin.
Trump said, “At the meeting in Istanbul, they will at least understand whether there is a possibility of an agreement in the negotiations. And if there is not, then European leaders and the United States will know what the real situation is and can take action accordingly.”
He said, “I am a little skeptical now whether Ukraine will make a deal with Putin at all. Because Putin is now busy celebrating Russia’s victory in World War II—a war that would not have been possible without American help, of course! Meet now.
