Bangladeshi girl Hafeza Maymuna Moniruzzaman has participated in international Quran competition in Malaysia. Hafeza Maymuna is the daughter of Imam Kari Moniruzzaman Sharif of Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. She is a student of Sauda Binte Jama’ah (RA) Hefaz Madrasa in Dhaka.
The 64th International Al Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition has started in the country. The competition started from Friday (October 5) and will continue till October 12. Maymuna from Bangladesh participated in this competition with a total of 92 contestants from 71 countries including Bangladesh. Among them are 53 Qur’an recitation and 39 memorization contestants.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim inaugurated the Quran Competition organized by Islamic Development at the World Trade Center in the capital Kuala Lumpur on October 5. The competition is divided into two sessions, morning and evening. Where the memorization phase will be held at 9:30 am and the Al-Quran recitation phase will be held at 8:30 pm.
On Monday (October 7) on the morning of the third day, 10 contestants from different countries including Bangladesh recited the Quran in the Quran Hefz competition.
According to the organizers, the first winner in the 64th International Qur’an Recitation and Memorization category will receive a prize worth 52,000 ringgit. In addition, Yasan Pembangunan Economy Malaysia will award a gold medal worth 12,000 ringgit and a cash prize of 40,000 ringgit to the winner.
Runners-up in both categories will receive 30,000 ringgit and a gold medal for Yasan Pembangunan Economy Malaysia. 20,000 ringgit for third place and gold medal for Yasan Pembangunan Economy Malaysia.
In addition, the winners will receive prizes, participation certificates and mementos, said Prime Minister’s Office Minister (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohammad Naeem Mokhtar. He said Raja Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Queen Permaisuri Agong Raja Jarith Sophia will distribute the prizes to the winners of the competition on October 12.
Earlier, Hafeza Maimuna Moniruzzaman won the third place in the International Hifzul Quran Competition held in Iran in February this year. Apart from this, Maymuna participated in the Quran competition held in Dubai in September this year.
