Saudi Arabia has granted citizenship to expatriates engaged in various first-tier professions. Several people were granted citizenship last Thursday (July 4). The country is believed to have taken this decision to attract creative people from different countries of the world and develop economy, health, culture and sports. Recently, the Saudi administration has issued a decree in this regard.
Among those who got citizenship are scientists, doctors, researchers, inventors, entrepreneurs and several other professions. However, the report did not say how many people have been given this citizenship.
Through this step, the country took a step forward towards Vision 2030. This is what the news agency SPA says. According to their published report, the country wants to reduce oil dependence. And to invest more in other creative activities. However, the report did not specify which sectors were targeted.
Those who have been granted citizenship are from America, Britain, France and Singapore. Mehmood Khan, Chief Executive Officer of American Citizen Evolution Foundation, Jackie Yu-Roo Eng, Lebanese scientist Nevin Kashab are on this list.
Earlier in 2021, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved such citizenship for foreigners for the first time. After three years, this approval was again received.
Although Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest oil exporter, it is turning to global investment to boost non-oil revenues. Vision 2030 aims to increase non-oil exports from 16 percent to 50 percent of GDP.
