Earlier, one person was killed and two others were injured in an attack by separatists in Kathua division. A few hours later, the army base was attacked. Three days ago, separatists there fired at a bus carrying pilgrims. At that time the bus driver lost control and the bus fell into a gorge. At least 9 people were killed. All of whom were pilgrims.
Two soldiers were injured in the initial firing.
Now there is an ongoing firefight between security forces and separatists, police said. In a statement in this regard, the police said, “Joint checkpoints of the army and police are fighting the separatists at Chattargola and Doda.”
Jammu Zone Additional Director General of Police Anand Jain, who is in charge of anti-terror operations in Kathua, said separatists opened fire on a joint team of police and Rashtriya Rifles late at night at the Dodar Chattargola army base. After that, gunfire broke out between the security forces and the separatists.
