A plane carrying Malawi’s Vice-President Saulos Chilima and nine others has gone missing, a statement from the East African country’s presidential office said.
A defense plane of the East African nation of Malawi carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima has gone missing. Apart from President Chilima, there were 9 passengers on the plane and they are also missing. The country’s authorities are conducting a search and rescue operation in this incident.

It also said the Malawi Defense Force plane “went off the radar” after leaving the capital Lilongwe on Monday morning. The plane was scheduled to land at Mojuju International Airport in the north of the country shortly after 10am local time.
In a speech late on Monday night, President Lazarus Chakwera said search and rescue operations are continuing in connection with the disappearance of the plane carrying the Vice President.
“Soldiers are still searching and I have given strict orders to continue the operation until the plane is found,” he said.
