In a post on social media X, the chairman of the human rights organization Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, Rami Abdul, called the deceased mayor al-Maghari as “one of the most active mayors of Gaza”.
Gaza’s media office condemned the killing of the popular mayor of Nuseirat. In a statement, they called the killing of Yad al-Maghari a “war crime committed with the aim of creating chaos”.
It said al-Maghari was a man who was “loyal and devoted to his duty and work”. Al-Maghari was engaged in helping the people of the Nuseirat refugee camp throughout the war.
Earlier, Israeli strikes also killed the mayors of the southern Az-Zahra and central Gaza municipalities of Magazi. In addition, the Israeli occupation has also destroyed the headquarters of several municipalities across Gaza.
Meanwhile, four people were killed and six others injured in an Israeli attack on a residential house in the Magazi refugee camp in central Gaza, Al Jazeera reported.
