The UAE Rescue Challenge 2024, held under the patronage of His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, successfully concluded Wednesday at Al Ruwayyah Training Field in Dubai.
The event was organized by the General Department of Transport and Rescue in collaboration with the World Rescue Organization (WRO).
The closing ceremony was attended by H.E Major General Dr Muhammad Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razooqi, Acting Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs; H.E Major General Ali Atiq Bin Lahej, Acting Assistant Commandant for Ports Affairs; H.E Dr Major General Adel Al Suwaidi, Director of Jebel Ali Police Station; H.E Major General Dr Tariq Mohammed Tahlak, Director of Naif Police Station; H.E Major General Abdullah Khadem Suroor Al Maasem, Director of Bur Dubai Police Station; H.E Major General Saeed Hamad Bin Sulaiman Al Malek, Director of Al Rashidiya Police Station; H.E Brigadier Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al Mualla, Director of the General Department of Excellence and Pioneering; Brigadier Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments, and Brigadier Expert Juma Ahmed bin Darwish Al Falasi, Acting Director of the General Department of the Transport and Rescue, along with several officers and a large number of attendees from the community.
Winners
The UAE Rescue Challenge 2024 concluded with great excitement as Dubai Police Team 1 emerged as the first-place winner, displaying their exceptional skills and expertise. Dubai Police Team 2 secured a well-deserved second place, demonstrating their strong performance throughout the Challenge. Meanwhile, the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority Team achieved third place, highlighting their commendable efforts in the competition.
In the ‘Best Event Leader category,’ Dubai Police Team 1 secured the first-place position, followed by the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority Team in second place and the General Command of Civil Defense in third place.
In the ‘Best Technical Team’ category, Dubai Police Team 1 led the way with a first-place finish, followed by Dubai Police Team 2 in second place, and the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority Team in third place.
In the ‘Best Ambulance Team’ category, Dubai Police Team 2, consisting of paramedics from Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, secured the first-place position. Meanwhile, Dubai Police Team 1, including paramedics from Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, obtained second place. Meanwhile, The General Command of the Civil Defense Team, with paramedics from the National Ambulance, claimed the third-place position.
The UAE Rescue Challenge 2024 also honored the teams that participated from outside the country, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Team and the Republic of Singapore Team, commending their efforts and contributions.
Fierce Competitions
H.E Major General Dr. Muhammad Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razooqi, Acting Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs, highlighted that the three-day Challenge witnessed intense competition among the nine participating teams, seven from within the country and two from abroad. He added, “This showcased the advanced skills, professionalism, and dedication of the rescue teams, along with their high morale and eagerness to excel and compete for top positions, emphasizing the importance of organizing such competitions to assess individual and team skills, as well as to facilitate the sharing of practices and experiences in the field.”

Heroic Performance
Brigadier Expert Juma Ahmed bin Darwish Al Falasi, Acting Director of the General Department of Transport and Rescue at Dubai Police, expressed his observations regarding the significant advancement in the performance of the participating teams. He emphasized the crucial role of the competitive environment in motivating rescuers and paramedics to execute their tasks and scenarios with great courage. He added, “These scenarios were meticulously designed to simulate real-life situations closely, providing clear evidence that involving rescue teams in specialized challenges and competitions enhances their preparedness to handle emergency cases, aligning with the strategic goals of Dubai Police.”
Success & Constructive Communication
Colonel Khaled Al Hammadi, Director of the Search and Rescue Department at Dubai Police, expressed his gratitude for the blessings of Allah and the leadership’s support. He remarked, ‘The organizing committee, in collaboration with the World Rescue Organization (WRO), has orchestrated an exceptional and fruitful event, providing valuable insights into various aspects of rescue operations for the participating teams.
This event extends beyond professional learning of rescue tasks and presents a significant opportunity for fostering constructive communication among rescue team members, both locally and internationally, which greatly enhances the value and effectiveness of our rescue work system.”
Awareness Workshops
Alongside the accompanying exhibition, the UAE Rescue Challenge 2024 witnessed the presence of students from Hemayah and Dubai schools who attended to enjoy the competitions and benefit from the workshops provided by the exhibitors. The National Security Institute, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, conducted informative and educational workshops for visitors aimed at supporting and enhancing the community’s knowledge and awareness in the areas of safety and security through a range of training, professional, and academic programs that adhere to both local and international standards. As part of the Institute’s initiatives, the “Community Safety Caravan” aimed at raising awareness within the community about safety, emergencies, and natural disasters, while providing practical training on proper procedures to follow before and during a disaster, as well as mitigating risks associated with fires, earthquakes, and hurricanes.
