The Arakan Army claimed to have shot down a Myanmar military junta helicopter near the Bangladesh border.
Arakan Army shot down a Janta Bahini helicopter during fierce fighting in Paletwa town of Myanmar’s China state bordering Bangladesh. They have also published several pictures of it. Among these pictures, some pictures of Arakan Army fighters standing next to the wreckage of the helicopter have come to light.
Arakan Army spokesman Khiang Thukha told Irrawaddy, “We shot down a helicopter during intense fighting in Paletwa town.” After we shot the helicopter fell into the dense forest of Pai Hill. Next to this hill there was also a Janta Bahini base at Kankha hill. After capturing the base we found the wreckage of that helicopter.
In the second week of this January, the Arakan Army captured the city of Paletwa in Chin State. Before that, the rebel group fought with the Janata Bahini for two consecutive months.
