Elon Musk has announced that he has implanted a chip in the human brain for the first time. He said that his start-up company Neuralink has made experimental applications in the human brain. The initial results are quite impressive.
Musk also said that the patient is recovering quickly after replacing the chip. The brain chip is adapted to the brain. Which will play an important role in curing the disease. However, Elon Musk, one of the richest people in the world, did not reveal detailed information about this test.
Earlier last year, Elon Musk’s company was given permission for this experimental application by the US health regulatory agency. The aim was to cure the paralyzed patient.
Musk said that his company’s aim is to solve complex neurological problems by connecting the human brain with a computer. This device made by Neuralink is named ‘Telepathy’. This device can be operated through phone or computer.
On Monday (January 29), Musk explained on social media X how the electronic device connects to the brain. Mask also claims that this device is very useful for the disabled. In Musk’s words, “Imagine Stephen Hawking communicating faster than an auctioneer or a typist.”
In this experiment, a robot surgically places a brain-computer interface (BCI) in a specific area of the brain. Neuralink previously reported that this particular area of the brain controls the human will to move. The company wants people to be able to control a computer cursor or keyboard with just their thoughts.
Meanwhile, Musk’s company, Neuralink, said that the ‘ultra-fine’ thread-like material inside the chip helps send signals to the brains of people taking part in the experiment.
However, the question arises about replacing the brain chip of the mask, how safe is it for the human body?
Professor Anne VanHostenberg of King’s College London said such tests are important for any company that makes medical devices. Such tests have been done before. Many organizations have worked with the brain chip implant community. Few of them have managed to implant such devices in the human body. Ann claims Musk’s company joined that ‘community’.
Earlier, a Swiss company has also helped a paralyzed patient to walk by transmitting thoughts to his brain. A company in Utah made the first brain-computer connection in 2004.
