The Technical Committee for the UAE SWAT Challenge 2024 confirmed that there are 25 specialised referees from various police units ready to officiate in the challenge’s events, which will kick off from February 3 to 7 at the Al Ruwayyah training facility in Dubai.
Major Jamal Al Zaabi, head of the Technical Committee for the UAE SWAT Challenge, explained that the referees have experience in rapid intervention and special police operations.
“They have undergone specialised training courses in this type of championship and have previously participated in officiating at four international and seven local championships with the same challenge system,” he said.
Al Zaabi pointed out that the referees in the challenges are from various police agencies in the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and South Africa, all of whom have expertise in the five challenge areas: “Tactical Challenge, Assault Challenge, Officer Rescue, High Tower Challenge, and Obstacle Crossing.”
Al Zaabi indicated that the Technical Committee, following the directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, is working to ensure the readiness of the Al Ruwayyah field for the UAE SWAT Challenge and to acquaint the referees with the new changes in the challenge, as well as the related regulations, rules, and laws, through a specialised workshop.
Al Zaabi concluded that the referees have a high level of expertise and have participated in the past four editions of the UAE SWAT Challenge, proving their merit and high professionalism.
