The door of the Boeing 737 aircraft of Alaska Airlines of the United States flew in mid-air. Later the plane made an emergency landing to deal with the situation. The incident occurred after the plane took off from Portland Airport on Saturday (January 6).
Video captured on passengers’ cellphones shows a door in the middle of the cabin completely detached from the plane. At that time everything outside was visible through the door and there was a lot of air entering the plane. The flight was forced to return to Portland just 35 minutes into the flight.
Alexa Airlines made a statement to this effect on micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter). In this context, Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci said, ‘Flight S1282 from Portland, California to Ontario encountered an incident this evening. All 177 passengers and crew on board made a ‘safe landing’. “Each aircraft will resume service only after completing full maintenance and safety inspections,” the statement said.
The statement lauded the efforts of the six crew members on board the Minicucci flight. According to flight tracking data, the aircraft made an emergency landing after climbing to an altitude of more than 16,000 feet (4,876 m). Minicucci lamented the incident, saying, “I’m sorry for those who were on that flight. I sympathize with them.” “I am grateful for the response of our pilots and flight attendants,” he added.
