The most successful club of the season drew 1-1 at the opponent’s field in the Spanish La Liga match on Saturday night. After a scoreless first half, Jude Bellingham gave Real the lead in the eighth minute of the second half. But they could not hold it for long. Eiter Ruibal equalized for the hosts in 13 minutes. In the end, the two clubs left the field sharing the points.
Ancelotti praised Betis’ performance at the post-match press conference, citing the fair result of the draw, saying, ‘We played a good match. It was competitive and fiercely contested. We played well in both halves and the result of the match was fair. Because of our mistakes we conceded goals at a time when we were in control of the match. Betis didn’t deserve to lose because, like us, they played very well.’
Possessing 63 percent of the time, Real, however, were a bit behind in creating terror in goal. Two of the 12 shots they took were on target. Betis, on the other hand, took 16 shots and put six on target. They came very close to getting full points. Real survived when their former midfielder Isco’s head post was blocked in the last minute of the scheduled time.
Happy with the performance of the students, the Real coach now thinks, ‘A good result has come and we are happy with the match. Even though the opponent played very well, we were in control of the match. We are still top of the points table. It is difficult to play on this ground and now we are thinking about the upcoming matches. Things don’t always go your way. From our side, it was a match where we made mistakes and were successful. Real holds the top spot in La Liga for now with 39 points in 16 matches. Girona has 38 points with two games less. Current champions Barcelona, who are third, have 34 points in 15 matches. However, if Barca win on Sunday night, Girona will rise above all. Betis is seventh with 26 points in 16 matches.
