Elections were supposed to be held in Pakistan by November, but it did not happen. Again, if the election is not held at the time stipulated by the constitution, there was uncertainty about when it could be held.
However, this time the Election Commission of the country, which is plagued by political and economic crisis, has announced the date of the polls. Finally, the next election day was announced on February 8.
According to a report, this decision was announced on Thursday (November 2) afternoon after a long meeting between the President of the country Arif Alvi and representatives of the Election Commission.
According to the constitution of Pakistan, elections must be held within 90 days of the dissolution of parliament. According to that, the election commission was obliged to organize the country’s elections in the current month of November. However, the commission says that it will take at least four months for them to go to the elections after redrawing the parliamentary constituencies according to the latest census.
Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar is responsible for ensuring a fair and impartial election in Pakistan. He assumed responsibility as the head of caretaker government last August with this mandate. However, as the main opposition leader and PTI chief Imran Khan is kept in jail, there is considerable concern about whether Anwar will be able to hold a fair and acceptable election.
