The government of Pakistan will not investigate the allegations of irregularities in the February 8 election due to pressure from foreigners. Caretaker Prime Minister of the country Anwarul Haque Kakar said this.
The United States has demanded an investigation into allegations of massive irregularities and fraud in this year’s elections in Pakistan. The country has even said that it will keep an eye on the situation of this South Asian nuclear power country in the coming days. In this context, the head of the interim government of Pakistan has expressed his anger.
Pakistani reported this information in a report on Tuesday (February 13). According to the report, the United States has requested the Pakistani authorities to conduct an independent investigation into allegations of irregularities and rigging during the February 8 general elections. There have been inordinate delays in declaring the final results of the elections, raising doubts about the transparency of the elections.
Apart from this, several political parties including former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) have alleged irregularities and rigging in the recently concluded elections.
In this regard, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a regular press briefing on Tuesday, “We call for a full investigation of the allegations of election interference and fraud that we have seen raised under Pakistan’s legal system.” Apart from this, we will continue to monitor this in the coming days.
The present Prime Minister of Pakistan was asked to comment on this later. In response, the interim prime minister counter-questioned, did Pakistan ask the United States to investigate the Capitol Hill riots? He said that Pakistan is a sovereign state and will not bow down to any pressure.
