Israel’s air defense system has become so weak that if the conflict continues for another week, it will become almost ineffective.
The Iran-Israel conflict has entered its eighth day after a week. Both countries are still launching missile and drone attacks targeting each other. On the one hand, important Iranian facilities are being destroyed in Israel’s incessant attacks, while hundreds of people are losing their lives.
However, Israel has not been able to succeed in the aggression that it launched with the plan to break Iran’s back; on the contrary, Iran is surprising the whole world and is responding with an eye on the enemy.
In the meantime, Israel’s powerful air defense system has fallen face to face with Iran’s missile fleet in an unprecedented way. In this situation, the country is looking to its ‘perfect friend’, the United States.
Despite providing full support and indirect assistance since the beginning of the conflict, the United States has not yet engaged in direct conflict. US President Donald Trump has threatened to attack Iran directly, but has also said to wait at least two more weeks. However, Israel’s capabilities are declining so quickly that it has put a dent in the country’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s forehead.
Analysts say that Israel’s air defense system has become so weak that if the conflict continues for another week, it will become almost ineffective. However, Trump is asking for a few more weeks before engaging in direct conflict with Iran. Such “delay” from a “best friend” has extremely disappointed the Israeli Prime Minister.
This was stated by Gideon Levy, a columnist for the Israeli media Haaretz.
Levy said that in the current reality, two weeks means “forever”. If Trump is really waiting and this is not a ‘strategic confusion’, then the chances of the US getting involved in a war are constantly decreasing.
According to Gideon Levy, destroying Iran’s nuclear facilities will not make Israel safe in the long term. He said that Iran will be able to rebuild its military capabilities again and Gaza or other security problems will remain.
According to Israeli political analysts, one of Netanyahu’s strategies for political survival in the current reality is to drag the US directly into the war. But analysts see Trump’s decision to take his time as a major setback to Netanyahu’s aspirations.
