According to Islamic rules, the UAE authorities will officially announce the start of the month of Zilhaj and the date of Eid only after the moon is sighted.
Depending on the position of the moon, Eid al-Azha is likely to be celebrated in the Emirates on June 6 (Friday).
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society (EAS), an astronomical organization in the Emirates, said that May 28 (Wednesday) could be the first day of the month of Zilhaj.
Accordingly, June 6 (Friday) will be the 10th of Zilhaj, the day when Eid al-Azha is celebrated.
However, since these dates are astronomical predictions, the final decision will depend on the sighting of the new moon.
