U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem said two Israeli embassy workers were killed outside a Jewish museum in Washington, D.C.
The two were killed as they were leaving an event at the Capitol Jewish Museum, a man and a woman, according to sources. The shooting is believed to have been targeted.
The attack took place at 9:05 p.m. local time. The area is home to numerous tourist attractions, museums and government buildings, including the FBI’s Washington field office.
Several Israeli embassy employees were at a museum event when the shooting occurred. The search for the attacker is ongoing. The suspected attacker was wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket.
“We are actively investigating and working to gather more information. Please pray for the families of the victims. We will bring this depraved criminal to justice,” Christy Noem X said in a post.

Police responded with a large-scale operation. Several major roads in the city were closed. Local media reported that the victims were identified as a man and a woman, but their names were not released.
