The Saudi Interior Ministry has warned against anyone who facilitates illegal entry or residence, saying violators could face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to one million riyals.
Nearly 15,000 people have been arrested in raids across Saudi Arabia. They were arrested on charges of working and living illegally. The country’s Interior Ministry has announced this information.
It is said that from May 8 to 14, Saudi police arrested 14,987 people from various regions. Of these, 9,212 were arrested for violating the residency law, 3,502 for violating the border law, and 1,873 for violating the labor law.
During this period, 11,763 people were sent back to their respective countries.
The raid also targeted attempts to cross the border. 1,268 people were arrested while trying to enter Saudi Arabia illegally.
Most of them are citizens of Yemen (35 percent) and Ethiopia (62 percent). The rest came from other countries.
Authorities have arrested 23 more people on charges of facilitating illegal immigration by providing transportation, shelter or employment to unauthorized residents.
More than 23,000 illegal residents are currently undergoing various legal processes in the country. Of these, 22,263 are men and 1,055 are women.
