Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, recently emphasised the importance of comprehensive training in enhancing Dubai Police’s operations across criminal, traffic, and administrative sectors.
This development is guided by strategic training plans designed to anticipate future demands and foster human resource growth by applying world-class policing and security practices.
He highlighted the pivotal role of the General Department of Training in supporting police performance goals through the continuous development of personnel. By equipping staff with up-to-date knowledge, scientific theories, and practical skills, Dubai Police ensures its officers remain prepared, can keep pace with global advancements, and are ready to identify and counter evolving criminal methods.
Al Marri’s remarks were made during an inspection of the General Department of Training as part of the annual review of police departments and stations.
Accompanying him were Brigadier Badran Al Shamsi, Acting Assistant Commander for Academic and Training Affairs; Brigadier Ahmad Murad, Acting Director of the General Department of Training; Brigadier Dr Saleh Al Hamerani, Deputy Director of the General Department of Excellence and Leadership; Brigadier Muhammad Atiq Thani, Acting Deputy Director of the General Department of Training; Colonel Ahmad Al Muhairi, Acting Director of Inspection and Oversight; Lieutenant Colonel Dr Abdul Razzaq Abdul Rahim, Head of the Inspection Section; and other officers.
During the visit, Al Marri reviewed the department’s current projects, including the 2040 foresight plan and the comprehensive annual training agenda covering traffic, criminal, administrative, security, and crisis management topics.
He discussed the department’s goals for the coming year, stressing the importance of developing training programmes tailored to Dubai Police’s specific needs, ensuring that personnel are well-prepared to handle various challenges in their roles.
Al Marri also reviewed the 2023 training statistics and the department’s significant local and international accreditations. These include recognitions from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Institute of Training and Education, the Diving Centre for Diving Certifications, the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training, the Security Qualifications Centre, and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
