Kurram district is mainly a tourist area. Hotels are being built in different areas of this district for tourists. Due to increasing demand for land, land related disputes are also increasing. The main reason for this recent conflict is the land dispute.
Pakistan is a Sunni-dominated country. Only 15 percent of the total population here are Shia Muslims. They complain that they are sometimes subjected to violence and discord.
