More than 700 people have been killed in Israel’s indiscriminate attacks on Lebanon from last Monday to Friday morning.
Thousands of people protested in Iran and Yemen on Friday, condemning Israel’s bloody attacks on Lebanon and Gaza.
Authorities called for support for Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon and “condemnation of the Jewish state’s barbaric attacks on Palestine,” Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported. In response to this, thousands of people protested in the capital Tehran and other cities of the country.
Hezbollah is one of the Iran-backed armed groups active in the Middle East. After the Gaza war broke out, Hezbollah targeted Israeli and US forces for supporting the Palestinian armed group Hamas there.
However, since last week, Israel has started intense airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. According to Lebanese health authorities, more than 700 people have been killed by Israel’s indiscriminate attacks in Lebanon from last Monday to Friday morning.
In addition to Iran and Yemen, there were reports of protests in Bahrain on Friday. Bahrain is an ally of Israel. The country’s government has cracked down on anti-Israel protests.
An AFP journalist said that after Friday prayers in Tehran, there were protests around Inghelab Square in the city center. Demonstrators held pictures of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and Palestinian and Hezbollah flags. They chanted ‘Demise of Israel, Victory of Lebanon’.
They also strongly condemned the “bloodshed” in Lebanon. Burn the Israeli and US flags.
In addition to Tehran, Iranian state television broadcast news and video footage of protests in Semnan, Qom, Kashan, Kermanshah, Siraj and Bandar Abbas.
Hundreds of thousands of people protested in the capital Sanaa on Friday, organized by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, another Iran-backed armed group. A day before the protests, Houthi rebels fired a missile into Israel from Yemen.
Sana’a has been under the control of Houthi rebels for almost a decade. Many of the protesters were carrying rifles during Friday’s demonstration. Some came with placards.
Houthi supporter Murtada Al-Mutawakil said, “I want to say to our brothers in Lebanon, you will be victorious.” This is not the first or last war against Israeli enemies.
