Gunmen shot dead 23 passengers from a bus in Pakistan. The incident took place on Monday (August 26) in Musakhail district near Balochistan. According to the police, their identity was verified before the murder.
Musakhail District Assistant Police Commissioner Najib Kakar said that the gunmen blocked the inter-provincial road in Rarasham area and shot passengers from various buses. Most of the victims were residents of Punjab.
He also said that the gunmen shot at 10 cars. Police and Levies officers reached the spot and brought the bodies to the hospital. Three of the dead were from Balochistan and the rest were from Punjab.
Najeeb Kakar said that the vehicles were going towards Punjab. On the way, the car was stopped and everyone was shot after looking at their identity cards.
However, it is not yet known who committed the murder. It is believed to be due to ethnic riots.
