There have been counter-attacks between Israeli forces and the Lebanese Hezbollah group. A state of emergency has been declared in Israel for 48 hours due to the emerging situation.
Hizbullah said on Sunday that they fired a large number of missiles at Israel to avenge the killing of the organization’s commander Fuad Shokar at the end of July. With this, the ‘first phase’ of the attack has been completed.
Hezbollah fired more than 320 rockets targeting 11 Israeli military bases and barracks. These include four military installations in the occupied Golan Heights, including the Meron base.
Earlier this morning, the Israeli forces carried out massive airstrikes in southern Lebanon. Israel says it launched the preemptive strike after receiving information that Hezbollah was preparing to attack.
Most of the Israeli attacks targeted the border areas. The attack took place within a maximum of five kilometers of the 120 km border.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant declared a state of emergency in Israel for the next 48 hours, the country’s media reported.
Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport has been closed. Hizbullah attacks have injured people in northern Israel. In addition, bomb shelters have been opened in various Israeli cities.
