It is not possible to completely defeat the Palestinian independence group Hamas, said Daniel Hagari, the top officer of the Israeli army.
He said this in an interview given to the media.
It is not possible to completely defeat the Palestinian independence group Hamas, said Daniel Hagari, the top officer of the Israeli army.
Israel has been waging war against Hamas in Gaza for more than eight months. But still they could not eliminate the group. Instead, Israel killed thousands of civilians while overthrowing Hamas.
In this context, Israeli army spokesman Hagari said, “Hamas is an ideology.” An ideology cannot be eradicated. We are going to finish off Hamas—to say that is to put dust in people’s eyes. If we don’t take alternative measures, there will be Hamas in the end.’
Meanwhile, Hagari’s statement was rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. A statement from the Israeli Prime Minister said that the cabinet led by Prime Minister Netanyahu considers the destruction of Hamas’ military and government capabilities as one of the goals of the war. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is also committed to this. Any claim beyond that is irrelevant.
