Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi were acquitted in the Saifar case by the Islamabad High Court.
A bench consisting of Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb passed the verdict on Monday (June 3). In a summary judgment appeal against the sentence in the Cypher case, the sentence was set aside and they were acquitted.
Central leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were present at the Islamabad High Court when the verdict was announced. Besides, Imran Khan’s sister and Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s wife and daughters were also present in the court.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said after the verdict, today is a happy day for Pakistan and its 25 crore people.
He said, an unwanted and baseless case has come to an end.
It is to be noted that PTI founders Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a special court in the Cipher case.
