The new Crown Prince of Kuwait is Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah. He was appointed to this post by Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Saturday local time.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah was named as the new crown prince of Kuwait by the emir of the country on Saturday.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah served as the country’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. He was the Prime Minister of the country from 2019 to 2022. At that time, opposition members of parliament accused him of corruption. He was later forced to resign. Before that, he was the Foreign Minister of Kuwait for about eight years from 2011.
Just six weeks after Kuwait’s election, 83-year-old Emir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah dissolved parliament. The country then plunged into political turmoil again in May. At that time, he suspended several sections of the constitution.
Kuwait’s governance system is somewhat different from other Gulf countries. Although there is a parliament, most of the country’s power is confined to the royal family.
Incidentally, the new Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah received higher education in political science from Kuwait University in 1977.
