A plane of Indonesia’s national airline Garuda was forced to make an emergency landing at an airport after an engine caught fire. The plane was carrying 450 pilgrims and 18 cabin crew. But none of them were injured.
This incident happened on Wednesday (May 15) around 5:30 pm. The Boeing 747-400 series aircraft was bound for Madinah from Makassar, Indonesia. The engine of that plane caught fire.
In a statement regarding the fire, Garuda Executive Director Irfan Setiaputra said the engine caught fire immediately after take off. Maybe it wasn’t checked properly before the flight started. The pilot decided to land immediately after seeing the fire.
It is known that there were 18 crew in addition to 450 pilgrims in that plane. But none of them were injured. Garuda arranged a new flight for the passengers within two hours of the flight landing.
In a video circulating on social media, the plane caught fire shortly after take off.
