Seven people were beheaded in one day in Saudi Arabia on charges of ‘terrorism’. They were executed by beheading on Tuesday, February 27.
Once in 2022, 81 people were beheaded in a single day in the country. After that day, today again the highest number of people were executed in one day.
The country’s interior ministry said the seven were accused of “creating and financing a terrorist organization”.
Saudi Arabia is among the top three countries in the world in terms of execution. So far this year, 29 people have been beheaded in the country. Earlier in 2023, 170 people were executed in Saudi Arabia.
Two years ago, after beheading 81 people in one day, Saudi Arabia came under severe criticism from the world.
The nationalities of those executed today have not been disclosed. However, their names indicate that they were all Saudi citizens.
The seven were accused of “pursuing the path of terrorism that calls for bloodshed, creating and financing terrorist organizations and institutions, and communicating with terrorist organizations to destroy the peace and stability of society.”
However, the Saudi Press Agency did not give any details about which group they formed or what kind of terrorist activities they were involved in.
Along with China and Iran, Saudi Arabia executed the highest number of people in 2023.
Among them, 38 people were beheaded in December last year. Which was the highest in the entire year.
According to the Saudi authorities, the death penalty is essential to preserve the law and the Koran-based Sharia regime.
