Hafez Bashir Ahmad, a teenager from Habiganj in Bangladesh, won the first place in the World Quran Competition held in the capital of Iran, Tehran.
The country’s state organizing committee announced the final results of the competition on Wednesday.
Bashir stood first among 110 contestants in the 30-para Quran group of the competition. Iran’s Saeed Mohammad Sadek came second and Nigeria’s Abdullahi Abdullahi Garayi came in third.
10 days before, Bashir came third in the international Quran competition held in Algiers, the capital of Algeria.
In 2022, Bashir won first place in the Huffazul Qur’an Foundation competition.
According to Hafez Bashir’s family sources, Hafez Bashir won the first place in the 30-para group among 110 countries in the international Hefzul Quran competition held in Iran. He is a student of Markazut Tahfiz International Madrasah, Dhaka.
The principal of the madrasa, Neshar Ahmad-an-Nashiri, said that Basheer completed hifz in just five months.
Tehran Hosseiniyeh Ershad International Quran Competition started on February 5, 1982 with contestants from 12 countries including Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, Iraq, Syria, Guinea, Algeria and Libya. Currently, its scope has increased and this international organization of Qur’an recitation is organized with the participation of Qur’an reciters from different countries for a week.
