The country is bringing a law that only citizens of that country can work in delivery services in Saudi Arabia. This law will be effective from next April. As a result, expatriates are losing the opportunity to work in delivery services in Saudi Arabia.
Recently, the Middle Eastern country made a law banning this opportunity for expatriate workers.
Saudi’s Transport General Authority (TGA) is bringing the law to regulate the sector, including introducing specific uniforms for delivery workers.
According to the new law, only Saudi nationals can be employed in the delivery service. Delivery companies should introduce face-verification features for their drivers. which will be directly connected to the TGA system. Expats will be phased out of this delivery service over the next 14 months.
The law also states that light vehicles can be used for advertising in coordination with the Saudi Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs. Emphasis is placed on increasing the efficiency of delivery drivers as well as safety. Along with this, work is being done to turn the people involved in the delivery work into people’s trust.
TGA spokesperson Sahel Al Juwaid said the new law aims to increase the employment of Saudi Arabian citizens. Delivery sector is one of the important sectors of the government. Therefore, initiatives have been taken to control and expand this sector.
There are currently 37 companies licensed in the delivery sector in Saudi Arabia and 100 licensed light transport companies for the delivery of parcels and other orders.
