UN says Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have not decreased in intensity. A UN official said this after visiting a hospital to see the treatment of the injured. The comments came days after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called on Israel to reduce attacks on Gaza.
Gemma Connell, an official at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said what she saw at Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza on Monday was “extreme carnage”.
He said many seriously injured people could not be treated. Because the hospital was full of patients.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier vowed to intensify the fight against Hamas. He visited Gaza on Monday morning and said Israel’s military operations there are not yet over.
On the other hand, the Pentagon said that the US armed forces have carried out airstrikes against “Iranian-sponsored militias” in response to the attack on Iraq’s Erbil Air Base. Three US military personnel were injured, one critically, in the attack on the base.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the attack targeted three facilities belonging to Hezbollah and its allies. There have been a series of militia attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria. He said that after Israel’s military operation in Gaza, the activities of Hezbollah and other armed militias in the region have increased.
