Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew in India’s own technology fighter jet ‘Tejas’. He boarded the fighter jet in Bangalore on Saturday (November 25).
On this day he went to Bangalore based PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Tejas fighter jet is manufactured by this company.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the ongoing operations of Hindustan Aeronautics and its manufacturing capabilities.
Modi posted a few pictures on the micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter) after flying around in the fighter jet. It shows that he is sitting inside the plane in the clothes of a fighter pilot. In another picture, he is seen walking in front of the plane with his helmet in hand.
Tejas is a light fighter aircraft. This 4.5 generation multi-dimensional fighter is designed for close support in air combat and ground operations.
Tejas is the lightest of all such fighter jets. The shape and use of composite materials make this aircraft so light. Besides, the aircraft has a good accident-free record.
Currently, the Indian Air Force is operating 40 Tejas MK-1 fighter jets. Besides, they have ordered another 83 Tejas Mk-1 aircraft. The value of these 83 aircraft is 36 thousand 468 crore rupees.
